Update #242

Toronto is getting ready to unveil the cutting-edge public art installation: Steelhenge—a groundbreaking tribute to Canada-Europe unity, coming to the heart of downtown, at KESKUS International Estonian Centre.
The installation, a modern version of Stonehenge made from tariff-free steel, will not just symbolize the bonds between Canada and Europe but actively connect people across the globe via real-time data portals embedded within the steel.
The first-of-its-kind Steelhenge features plinths arranged to form the map of Estonia, and which will show real-time weather, news and average PPPP (prevailing price per pirukas) from the fully-digital Baltic nation.
Constructed with steel manufactured right here in Canada and etched with ancient Estonian runic messages, the project is bound to make waves. Estonia’s elections have been online since 2005, and this May will see beta-testing of remote voting via Steelhenge plinths for Eurovision finals. Every vote cast for Estonia will dispense an Espresso Macchiato from a special portal.
Join us this April 1st as we celebrate arrival of the first plinth in this remarkable installation in the heart of North America’s 4th largest city and keep abreast of project progress by signing up for the KESKUS newsletter at www.estoniancentre.ca.
