Between March 6 and April 10 2023, the first 100 students in a diaspora Estonian school aged 6+ to play the MisKESKUS video game through to completion can be rewarded with CDN$25 through their Estonian school!

All diaspora schools are eligible to have their students participate!

Speaker

"MisKESKUS is a gentle and fun game in a plurilingual learning context that we ourselves have enjoyed playing," says Elli Kipper, one of the game developers, "I will be using this in my eesti kooli classroom to support virtual instruction, to have some fun, and also a way to have students do homework during spring break that they'll very much want to do. The cash reward is yet another reason why Estonian School is fun - they will love the incentive!"

In order to be eligible for the CDN$25 cash reward, participants must

a) complete the game between March 6 and April 10, 2023 (“Play Period”);

b) be registered in a participating Estonian school outside of Estonia;

c) be among the first 100 students from around the world to complete the game, generating a certificate of completion to their computer desktop; and

d) send the certificate to their Estonian school within the Play Period.

All can download and play the game for fun, even if not eligible for the reward – it’s free (and fun) to play!

The MisKESKUS video game is an Estonian Arts Centre initiative with support of Northern Birch Credit Union and Integratsiooni Sihtasutus and was developed by two Estonian school immersion teachers, Elli Kipper and Heli Vanaselja, and programmed by Tom Tiisler. Read more about the 'making of', in this Eesti Elu article!

And who knows, players just might recognise some familiar faces in the game! Laptop or desktop needed to play. The game is downloaded onto the player's system and upon completion the certificate appears on the desktop. More information in the FAQs:

As of March 6, the game can be downloaded from here. Have fun playing!

KESKUS International Estonian Centre in downtown Toronto will be a dynamic hub showcasing our rich heritage and promoting Estonian innovation.
