Update / Teade # 226
An action-packed month on the KESKUS site!
The mega-pour with 37 concrete trucks lining up like clockwork over the course of 9 hours, took place on September 16th 2024. At all times, three ready-mix trucks were backed onto the KESKUS site as one unloaded, a second cleaned up and a third was in prep to unload. Nearly half of the floor plate was poured in that one day, almost 300m of concrete.

The project ‘got the band back together’ inviting those individuals who were formative in getting this vision through the due diligence phase, to witness the pour, and write a message into the concrete. /// Projekt tõi kokku asutajad kes KESKUSe ideele läbiviidavuse vundamendi lõid, et suurvalamist tunnistada ja märga betooni sõnumi kirjutada..

The poured concrete cured to the required hardness more quickly than anticipated and the forms started to be removed by the end of the month (you can see the forms being tossed out of the TTC access hatches in the video!). /// Valatud betoon tahenes oodatust kiiremini vajaliku kõvaduseni ja kuu lõpuks hakati vorme eemaldama (puidutükkide TTC juurdepääsuluukidest pinnale viskamist näha videost!).
This quick cure of the concrete also means that the post-tensioning process of the grade beams got underway sooner than anticipated. /// Betooni kiirem tahenemine tähendab ka seda, et talade järelpingutusprotsess algas oodatust varem.
The electrical and mechanical system install continues in the basement area behind the heritage house. /// Elektri- ja mehaaniliste süsteemide paigaldamine jätkub muinsuskaitsealuse maja taga asuval keldrialal.
Early October will see the pour of the remaining courtyard substructure, ie the western half over the TTC tunnels, and arrival on site of the structural steel to support the new heritage wing layout. /// Oktoobri alguses valatakse ülejäänud sisehoovi aluskonstruktsioon, st läänepoolne pool üle TTC tunnelite, ning ehitusteras saabumine kohale, et toetada muinsuskaitsealust tiiba.
Off site, structural steel production is the primary focus as the critical path on the timeline for opening celebrations of KESKUS. /// Konstruktsiooniterase tootmine omab üha enam tähelepanu, kuna see on KESKUSe avamispidustuste graafikus püsimise võtmeteema.
Sincere thanks goes to the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario for its support of courtyard construction, read more about this generous support here. /// Siiras tänu Kanada valitsusele FedDev Ontario kaudu praeguste ehitustööde toetamise eest.
